John
B
The
Elder to the chosen lady and to her children, whom I love in truth,
and not I alone but also all the ones who have known the truth, 2
because of the truth that remains among us, and will be with us unto
the age. 3 Grace, mercy and
peace from God the Father, and from Jesus Christ the Son of the
Father, will be with us in truth and love.
4 I rejoiced greatly
because I have found some
of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from
the Father. 5 And now I request you, lady, not as writing a new
commandment to you, but which we had from the beginning, that we
should love one another. 6 And this is love, that we should walk
according to his commandments; this is the commandment, as you heard
from the beginning, that you should walk in it. 7 Because many
deceivers went forth into the world, the ones who do not confess
Jesus Christ as
coming in the flesh; this is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch
yourselves, lest you lose the things which we wrought, but that
you may receive a full reward. 9 Everyone who goes forward and does
not remain in the teaching of Christ does not have God; the one who
remains in the teaching, this one has both the Father and the Son. 10
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not
receive him into your house, and do not tell him to rejoice; 11 for
the one who tells him to rejoice shares in his evil works.
12
Having many things to write to you, I purpose not by means of paper
and ink, but I am hoping to be with you and to speak mouth to mouth,
in order that our joy may be fulfilled. 13 The children of your
chosen sister greet you.
